How do Credit Cards work? Do you pay a fee to get one? What if u never use it?

I dont know how credit cards work... lets say i start by applying... will i have to pay a fee to get a card? Then theres a bunch of APR and interest stuff, (idk what that is) Will i have to pay any of that if i NEVER use it?
